James Milner is one of the great midfielders England has in its Nation Team as an asset. Currently playing for Aston Villa, James Milner started his career in 2002 with Leeds United in Striker Position and now making his appearance in the World Cup 2010 matches for England National Team.
Born in 4Th January 1986 as a son of Peter and Lesley Milner, James Milner spent most of the time in his childhood as a young player in the Westbrook Lane Primary School in Horsforth where he was brought up. Horsforth Secondary School was his next level of study and playing platform, but he was interested in Cricket & Sprints too. It was his first coach Graeme Coulson who recognized his talent in football and made him play many tournaments for his team Rawdon. He was first publicly known in final match of Rawdon Meadows Tournament where he scored four goals to lead his team to victory and got published in the newspaper.
Apart from football, he didn’t leave his habit of playing cricket and long running and was a first class student in his studies along with. Yorkshire Schools cricket team had him as a player despite not being a student of the school; he was cross-country champion for his school over 3 continuous years and also holds the title of District Champion in 100 meter Sprint for 2 consecutive years. Boston Spa School, a partner of the Yorkshire School was the last step of his student carrier to complete the school level education.
Interests in football grew within him from the very infant of his childhood, his parents were season ticket holder f the home town club Leeds United which he supported in the 1993 Youth Cup and later became a ball boy of the Leeds united. From then he shifted his entire attention to football career from cricket and long distance running.
James Milner joined Leeds United Academy at the age of 10; he had Striker Alan Smith as his Role-Model who was born in Leeds too. Later he got the chance to play with Smith which gave him the chance to learn critical techniques to make him the Midfielder as he is now. In that club, he got the chance to play in tournament with world’s greatest clubs like Manchester United which helped him to achieve his goal of being a successful midfielder in the England National Team.
He played in Leeds United Premier League from 2002 to 2004 and made 5 fabulous goals to strengthen his position. Swindon Town was next step in his career where he played in second division in the year of 2004 to 2005 season. Newcastle United & Aston Villa was his home team since 2004 till today when he is playing for Aston Villa and in these years, he successfully established himself as a great player in Winger or Central Midfielder for 7 years since then by scoring many spectacular goals throughout the years, his keen interest in sprinting helped him to keep the opponents busy in the playing ground.
One of his best qualities is the capability to play in all around position, he played in Winger, Midfielder & Striker position in International Matches too, perhaps the most diverse among his colleagues. Manchester City tried to buy him with an offer of £20 million for the season but failed to take him from his current club Aston Villa where he is playing now. As far as the Football World cup 2010 in South Africa is concerned, James Milner is trying hard to make a remarkable appearance in his first World Cup.
